Stamp: Takeru vs Kaizer by uzukun89 Stamp: Takeru vs Kaizer by uzukun89
An epic battle of Digimon Kaizer arc: Takeru vs Kaizer. We still can see Takeru smiling before he gets serious and punches the Kaizer out. Taken from Episode 19.

PS: Many fans can see this as a random joke, but I'll consider this as a serious thing that Takeru has emotional management issues about controlling his anger when it comes to dark power.

Well. Takeru gave Ken enough time to resolve it in a civilized manner, but Ken had to hit him in the face with the whip, so Takeru knew Ken wasn't willing to understand with words n.nU

And all I can say about how Takeru punched Ken is.... PWNED! :D

I think it is still out of character of Takeru's usual characterization. It looks civilized, but, it is not the way he speaks. Instead of understanding, his words is full of sarcastic remark (he sounds like a shitty young boy who looks down to his opponent).

And what did Ken do? Ken even kicked a small dog. Ken was always looking down to everyone. True he had the dark spore on him, but still he did a lot of bad things o.o

Guess Takeru had enough of being calm and decided to take a more direct approach. Also the US dub messed up with his dialogs a lot making him look like a prep on that scene n.nU

Ironically, Takeru's snarky words and violent act (which are OOC) did not make Ken/Digimon Kaizer change his mind. Instead, he went ruthless even more by spawning Chimeramon to spread terror on Digital World. The only thing which made him drastically change was Wormmon's death.

Do you think 02/ZT!Takeru is a bit messed up than Adventure!Takeru?

Actually Ken already had finished Chimeramon even before Takeru confronted him. Remember that while Takeru was fighting Ken, Kimeramon already was outside fighting against Halsemon and Nefertimon, so it had nothing to do with Chimeramon. Remember that Takeru saw how Ken went to get Devimon's data on that whirpool, it was that what triggered Takeru's anger because it triggered painful memories for him.

So with or without the fighting Ken wouldn't have been any different n.n

I do agree that Takeru changed a lot from Adventure to 02/ZT Takeru changed a lot, but it is also understandable. He got forced to mature at such early age. He was 8 years old in his first adventure, and at 8 years old he saw more deaths than any other kid of his age ever saw. Not only that, his own partner also died infront of his eyes. Is not much surprising he changed like that.

He even actually talks about how all the things that affected him emotionally a lot on a Drama CD. The name of that Drama CD isn't on my head right now but I'll try to search it and will get back to you to tell you the title or if it posible give you a link to it which would be surely a youtube link since some fans upload the drama CDs with english (or spanish) subs to youtube. I mean the video itself is the translated tracks for us to read while we hear the japanese voices talking :)

It is true that Kaizer had spawned Chimeramon before Takeru engaged the fistfight with him. However, what did he do after Takeru "dominated" him in such fight? He just muttered a curse before leaving the place. And the next episode...he went ruthless even more with Chimeramon, even after Daisuke and co. raided his base.

I am sorry if my opinion sounds different than yours. ZT!Takeru resembles more to Adv!Yamato in terms of characterization. I think the writers attempted to make him as Yamato#2 so his relationship with Daisuke would be similar with Taichi and Yamato in Adventure. However, this idea was later scrapped as Ken joined the team for real in second half.

Speaking of Drama CD, I remember a part which states that Takeru actually regrets his fighting with Kaizer (and also his quarrel with Tokomon because of PicoDevimon). He is deeply embarrassed because of this.

Well we can't pin it all on Takeru. I mean Daisuke also fought Ken. It was when Ken tricked him into thinking that his friends got captured but in reality were Bakemon impersonating Hikari and the others. Daisuke tackled Ken and they rolled down that hill Ken was while having a sort of strength fight. I don't know how to call it, it was them grabbing each other's hands and struggling like rolling down n.nU

Then Davis slapped Ken, then Yolei slapped Ken. Actually almost the whole 02 team hit Ken. Only Iori and Hikari didn't lol

Ken would have gone ruthless anyways. Remember how after Chimeramon got defeated, Ken said he would restart the whole Digiworld.

Also long before Takeru fought him, Ken was already ruthless. Remember how he had that colosseum and he would put his slave digimon to fight, how he hit them with his whip, just remember on the ice zone episode how he treated those digimon he was using to build the Dark Tower there. Ken even hit Wormmon more than once.

I really don't think it would have made much difference if Takeru hit him or not. Ken even ignored that voice on the whirpool warning him to not mess with the Dark Powers by saying that there was nothing he couldn't do.

At this point I'm sure Takeru wasn't the only one wanting to beat the lights out of Ken.

Then again, we have to remember that the scriptwriters for 02 weren't the same ones from Adventure. It was a different scriptwriting team.

Satoru Nishizono who was the scriptwriter for Adventure did quit to Toei after Toei decided to make a Zero Two. He didn't want a sequel for Adventure. The epilogue we saw in Zero Two originally was planned to be for Adventure (of course without Davis, Ken, Yolei and Cody), but when Zero Two got green lighted, the epilogue was moved to Zero Two.

That's the reason why Takeru is so different from how he was in Adventure, because it wasn't the same scriptwriter :)

Exactly. I think a main weakness of Digimon ZT (asides scrapped ideas and plotholes) is the fact that the characterization is very unbalanced. This season is mostly focused on Ken and his redemption after Kaizer arc. That is why he is always be displayed as a "punching bag" for Chosen Children (Daisuke pushing and slapping him, Miyako slapping him, Takeru punching and pushing him, and Oikawa scanning his Dark Seeds).

You are right about the different writer. Since Nishizono was not involved in ZT, this Digimon season had different vibe with Adventure. ZT had two writers, Maekawa and Yoshimura, of course with different point of view. No wonder if there are many inconsistencies and plotholes everywhere.

I don't see the "emotional management issues" in this at all.
First off, the Digimon kaiser deserved to be punched in the face since day one.
Second, at what point do you let some one be evil before you confront them about it?

For me, it's emotional management issues. Takeru is known as the most mature in then new Chosen Children. So it means that he knows what he has to do at first and not let the anger ruling him.

And fighting without anger would be better?
Wouldn't that make Takeru psychotic?

In Digimon Adventure Takeru learns that there are things worth fighting for.
Takeru taking a stand against evil is just showing how far he has come.
Of course being a secondary character means that his actions would not have a lasting effect on the story.

I find it ironic that Takeru shows so much initiative in episode 19 only to have it striped away by episode 21.

I mean, Takeru is the most level-headed in the new Chosen Children. His dogfight with Digimon Kaizer is mainly caused by his trauma about the death of Patamon in Adventure.

Remember, in Drama CD, Takeru regrets it later (his dogfight with Kaizer and bickering with Tokomon make him embarrassed as he remembers those).

Like always Iam sorr to introdu here but again I want to give my interpretation ;) I think that is the thing, it is nothing unsusual about doing something and regreting it later and I think that the cd prooves that this was not an issue of his but only shows him as a human being and also prroves since he grew up doing NO harm to someone and since not remembering other issues with it just shows him being human being and getting angry about something which for takeru (who prefers peace) is thinking that it got over his head after all he is known for his logical thinking so he is being a bit sensitive about it even though the kaiser might have deserved it it is not takerus style which is why he regrets it as he likes to have it calmer but this is shows that he is an actualy human being and can have all kind of emotion. After all I know what it is like, I remember while I was ten that I got a bit overreactive when someone told me that I am in (sexually) love with my brother just because I always want to go with him (this kid was stupid -.-) well I, who wasn't that much of fighting, got into him in a fight with agression reaction now what I think of it I should have just left and am embarassed if someone reminds me it but since then it was just an overreaction which is common in people but since then I hadn't had an isssue either-.-. SO I think by taking this out is a bit to overreactive of us fans and after that he realised it by saying by azulongmon that he knows darkness is always there where light is and at that time he learned that much more whihc is why he didn't react the way to malomyotismon. SO I think it was just normal XD

Glad if you like it. But I prefer normal, kind Takeru since badass Takeru for me is totally a degradation of Takeru's personality (he's more level-headed than Daisuke so he doesn't have to use violence to solve the problem, though it's about the dark power).
